Star Trek Beyond
So according to Memory Alpha the title of the new Star Trek movie is going to be Star Trek Beyond. And of course there is neither a colon or a dash in there, because that would make sense for once. But I guess we should already have seen it coming, that the new timeline guys obviously don't spend much time on thinking about the names of their movies. After all in 1979 they had still the decency to call their film Star Trek - The Motion Picture while the eleventh Star Trek movie will forever be referred to by the year it was released.
But apart from those purely grammatical and optical issues, there still remains the problem of sense, in the naming the movie Star Trek Beyond
Beyond what?
Beyond the Final Frontier? Beyond the Great Barrier? We've been there, twice, or maybe even more often, I'm not sure about some of the episodes. Let's just say we had that often enough, and anyway I don't want to have another remake. Although I have to say I'd like to see that new crew finally go where no one has gone before - they've been lacking that a little.
But what else could it be? Beyond Believe? No, wait, wrong franchise. And ENT's "To boldly go" already showed what happens when Jonathan Frakes shows up in a time when the Enterprise-D was not even thought of yet.
And so the question still stands. The one thing I might like to see would be "Beyond Time". After all we didn't have 'real' time travel for quite a while and ... no, wait, they haven't found out about the slingshot-effect yet and also not about the Guardian. So I guess that's a no-way-scenario.
I just hope the rest of the movie is better than the title.
